Fužine is a small village which nestles in the southwestern corner of the Gorski Kotar region, popularly called the green lungs of Croatia because 63% of it is covered by forest. Perched 740 metres above sea level, you get to enjoy the benefits of fresh mountain air which keeps summer evenings comfortably cool while the days remain warm. Surrounded by forest, it is the ideal place to find your inner self. You will discover caves and lakes nearby, along with the source of the River Kupa. Fužine has excellent transport links to the sea (30km from Rijeka, Croatia’s third largest city) and inland Croatia via the new A6 motorway, located closeby.

Our forests are suitable for mushroom picking, and there are mountain trails should you wish to go hiking. Nearby summits include Tuhobić, Bitoraj and Viševica. Try seeking out some of the local delicacies, which include wild strawberry preserves, blueberry pie, and liqueres containing medicinal herbs.

The climate is very pleasant even in the summer . Summers are not too hot, and to all who rather wish to avoid Mediterranean summer heat, but still want to be close to sea, Fužine and Gorski Kotar are an ideal place for holiday.

In the winter there are popular ski destinations. The region is full of rivers and currents, picturesque valleys, lakes, caves and other natural beauties.
